I love fairy tales and fantasy and always have. When I was a little girl, my favorite story was The Twelve Dancing Princesses. I always wanted to be a princess. When I got older, I wanted to be a queen. I had to settle for being boss of an ER for a 12 hour shift.

But my experiences in the ER, and the development of my personality over the years, have led me to value a strong, assertive woman with a wicked sense of humor.

It occurred to me that a story about a stepmother, dealing with Snow White as a horrible teenager, might be fun. Especially if the stepmother was a particularly independent and somewhat dangerous woman. From this beginning the character of Regina evolved.
