Hamilton Perez’s story “Problems of the Flesh” was published in Metaphorosis on Friday, 7 October 2022. 
I started this story around 2015 as a sort of final goodbye to the religious faith of my early adulthood. I thought it would be interesting if the Second Coming occurred, but rather than Christ returning in glory, he was weak or ill (though still supernatural). I didn’t want to make the story about Christianity (or any particular religion), but rather about the challenges of faith, so I invented Grivvux, and Sam became a vehicle for me to explore what faith expects of us and what we expect of it.
