Max Pitchkites has independently pursued work both as a fine artist and as an illustrator for science fiction and fantasy stories, including those of his own writing. In 2009 he was commissioned to provide 28 illustrations for an art exhibition in Chicago based on every chapter of the fantasy novel The Order of Odd-Fish by James Kennedy. He has continues to create illustrations, write novels, and direct films in Bloomington, Indiana.
