Chloe Smith was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. Her first job ever was as a shop assistant at a SF/F-themed bookstore, and she never lost the taste for speculative fiction, although the world took her through a wide range of places and vocations before she stumbled back to her writerly ambitions. She currently works as a 7th-grade English teacher, moonlights as the proofreader for Locus and Fantasy magazines, and ekes out time in between her jobs to think up more stories about strange worlds and familiar problems.
