Q: Do you have any pets? Do they influence your writing?
A: I used to be a pet to a certain cat for many years – I think she found me too dull a character to write a story about me, though. I grew up with lots of animals, either in our flat (parrots, hamsters, cats) or cottage (dogs and cats). I’ve actually written a short story about a dog that used to chew on our caravan’s wiring, driving my father insane. Now that I think about it, a lot of my stories include pets or animals. In some of them, including a novelette, they’re protagonists as well.
